Question : 9 of 16
Marks: +1, -0
A rectangular loop of size 5 cm x 8 cm is lying in x-y plane in a uniform magnetic field B⃗=(2.0 T)k^\vec{B} = (2.0\,\mathrm{T})\hat{k}. The total magnetic flux linked with the loop is:
Solution:
Area (A) =5 cm×8 cm=40 cm2= 5\,\mathrm{cm} \times 8\,\mathrm{cm} = 40\,\mathrm{cm}^2
=40×10−4 m2=4×10−3 m3= 40 \times 10^{-4}\,\mathrm{m}^2 = 4 \times 10^{-3}\,\mathrm{m}^3
The loop lies in the x-y plane, so its area vector is along the z-direction (k^)(\hat{k}).
The magnetic field is given as B⃗=2.0 k^\vec{B} = 2.0\,\hat{k}.
Since B⃗\vec{B} and A⃗\vec{A} are parallel, θ=0∘\theta = 0^{\circ} and cos⁡ θ=1\cos\,\theta = 1.
ϕ=B×A=2.0×(4×10−3)=8×10−3 Wb\phi = B \times A = 2.0 \times (4 \times 10^{-3}) = 8 \times 10^{-3}\,\mathrm{Wb}
The total magnetic flux is 8×10−3 Wb.8 \times 10^{-3}\,\mathrm{Wb}.
