Eligibility

KCET Eligibility – Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has set the eligibility criteria for KCET. It is mandatory for exam aspirants to comply with the KCET eligibility criteria to be able to appear for the common entrance test for admission to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy and ayush courses offered at colleges in Karnataka.
KCET eligibility criteria include factors like educational qualifications, minimum marks required, age limit, reservation criteria and domicile norms. Candidates are advised to carefully check the eligibility norms before applying for the exam and keep all the documents ready while filling the KCET application form.

KCET 2019 General Eligibility Criteria

No candidate shall be eligible for admission to courses offered through KCET unless they satisfy the below KCET eligibility norms:

  • Candidates should be a citizen of India and domicile of Karnataka
  • Candidates should have passed the qualifying exam with a minimum of 50-60% marks from a recoganised university listed under VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University).
  • Candidates who have passed the qualifying exam from the university not listed under VTU or from Karnataka State Open University are not eligible to apply for KCET.
  • Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying exam (2nd PUC (Pre University Colleges)/ 12th boards) in 2019 and their result is awaited can apply for KCET 2019 but shall not be eligible for admission if they do not pass the qualifying exam.
  • Candidates seeking admission to medical, dental or ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, and Homeopathy) courses must qualify NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).
  • Candidates seeking admission to architecture courses should appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test for Architecture) or JEE Main Paper 2.
  • In case of agriculture quota candidates, merit list will be prepared based on 25% marks each secured in concerned combinations in 2nd PUC & KCET and 50% marks secured in the practical test

KCET Question Paper will be set from the syllabus of First and Second year PUC recommended by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka. Candidates are required to familiarize themselves with the syllabus to score well in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test .

Physics- Class 12 syllabus which would include topics like Electrostatics, Magnetism, Optics, Current electricity and Waves.

Chemistry- 12th standard syllabus with topics like Organic chemistry, surface chemistry, solid state, electrostatics, polymers and biomolecules.

Mathematics- Algebra, Integral calculus, Differential calculus, vectors, trigonometry, probability and linear programming.
