At the break-even point level of incomes for the economy is 10,000\text{₹}\,10,000 crores and if the people tends to save 20 per cent of their additional income, then calculate the value of autonomous consumption.
Solution:
C=C+ by C = \overline{C} + \text{ by } [ At Break even point] \text{[ At Break even point] }
10,000=C+08(10,000)10,000 = \overline{C} + 0 \cdot 8(10,000)
10,000=C+8,00010,000 = \overline{C} + 8,000
10,0008,000=C=2000 crores 10,000 - 8,000 = \overline{C} = \text{₹}\,2000 \text{ crores }
Working Notes:
b=MPCb = \text{MPC}
C=YC = Y
S=0\because S = 0
C=10,000\therefore C = 10,000
MPS=02 (given) \text{MPS} = 0 \cdot 2 \text{ (given) }
MPC=1MPS\text{MPC} = 1 - \text{MPS}
=102=08= 1 - 0 \cdot 2 = 0 - 8
