Write two different ways in which glucose is oxidized to provide energy in human body. Write the products formed in each case.

Solution:

Glucose is oxidised in two forms to provide energy to the body:

(i)

C_6H_{12}O_6\xrightarrow[\text{cytoplasm}]{\text{In}}\text{Pyruvate}\xrightarrow[\text{of Oxygen}]{\text{Presence}}\mathrm{CO}_2+\mathrm{H_2O}+\underset{\text{energy}}{38\mathrm{ATP}}

This is an example of Aerobic Respiration that happens in presence of oxygen.

(ii)
