Question : 1 of 20
Marks: +1, -0
To balance the following chemical equation, the values of the coefficients x, y and z must be respectively:
xZn(NO3)2ΔyZnO+zNO2+O2x \mathrm{Zn(NO_3)_2} \xrightarrow{\Delta} y \mathrm{ZnO} + z \mathrm{NO_2} + \mathrm{O_2}
Solution:
Zinc Nitrate = Zinc Oxide + Dioxygen + Nitrogen
Zn(NO3)2=ZnO+O2+NO2\mathrm{Zn(NO_3)_2} = \mathrm{ZnO} + \mathrm{O_2} + \mathrm{NO_2} is a Decomposition reaction where two moles of Zinc Nitrate [Zn(NO3)2][\mathrm{Zn(NO_3)_2}] decomposes into two moles of Zinc Oxide [ZnO], one mole of Dioxygen [O2][\mathrm{O_2}] and four moles of Nitrogen Dioxide [NO2][\mathrm{NO_2}].
