A piece of wire of resistance ‘R’ is cut lengthwise into three identical parts. These parts are then connected in parallel. If the equivalent resistance of this combination is R', then the value of RR\frac{R}{R'} is :
Solution:  
  1R=  3R+  3R+  3R\;\frac{1}{R'} = \;\frac{3}{R}+\;\frac{3}{R}+\;\frac{3}{R}
  1R=  9R\;\frac{1}{R'} = \;\frac{9}{R}
R=  R9\Rightarrow R' = \;\frac{R}{9}
Now,
  RR=  R×9R=9\;\frac{R}{R'} = \;\frac{R\times 9}{R}=9
