What happens when CH3−Br\mathrm{CH}_3-\mathrm{Br} is treated with KCN\mathrm{KCN} ?
Solution:  
When CH3−Br\mathrm{CH}_3-\mathrm{Br} react with KCN\mathrm{KCN}, it produce methylnitrile. It is a nucleophilic substitution reaction which take place by SN2\mathrm{SN}^2 Mechanism
CH3−Br+KCN→CH3−CN\mathrm{CH}_3-\mathrm{Br}+\mathrm{KCN} \rightarrow \mathrm{CH}_3-\mathrm{CN} +KBr+\mathrm{KBr}
