Question : 21 of 37
Marks: +1, -0
SECTION -B
State Raoult's law for a solution containing volatile components. What is the similarity between Raoult's law and Henry's law?
Solution:
Raoult's law for a solution containing volatile components states that the partial pressure of a volatile component present in a solution is directly proportional to the mole fraction of that component at a given temperature.
PAαχA   or   PA=KχAP_A \alpha \chi_A \;\text{ or }\; P_A=K\chi_A
Raoult's law and Henry's law are similar as both gives equation to find partial pressure of gases.
PA=KχA                        PA=KHχAP_A = K \chi_A \;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\; P_A = K_H \chi_A
