Question : 20 of 37
Marks: +1, -0
An electron moves along +x+x direction. It enters into a region of uniform magnetic field B→\overset{\rightarrow}{B} directed along −z-z direction as shown in fig. Draw the shape of trajectory followed by the electron after entering the field.
OR
A square-shaped current-carrying loop MNOP is placed near a straight, long current-carrying wire ABA B as shown in the fig. The wire and the loop lie in the same plane. If the loop experiences a net force FF towards the wire, find the magnitude of the force on the side 'NO\mathrm{NO}' of the loop.
Solution:
Shape of trajectory will be circular. Force on the electron is given by
F→=−q(v→×B→)\overset{\rightarrow}{F} = -q\left(\overset{\rightarrow}{v} \times \overset{\rightarrow}{B}\right)
So, the electron will follow a semi-circular path in the magnetic field.
OR
FNO=μ0LI1I22π(L+L)=μ0I1I24πF_{\mathrm{NO}} = \frac{\mu_0 L I_1 I_2}{2\pi(L+L)} = \frac{\mu_0 I_1 I_2}{4\pi}
