Question : 32 of 86
Marks: +1, -0
Calculate the percentage of water of crystallization in CuSO45H2O\mathrm{CuSO}_4 \cdot 5 \mathrm{H}_2\mathrm{O}
(H=1,O=16,S=32,Cu=64)(\mathrm{H}=1, \mathrm{O}=16, \mathrm{S}=32, \mathrm{Cu}=64)
Solution:
Molar mass of CuSO45H2O\mathrm{CuSO}_4 \cdot 5 \mathrm{H}_2\mathrm{O}
=[54+32+16×4+5×18]= [54+32+16 \times 4+5 \times 18]
=250=250
Mass of water of crystallisation =90=90
%  of water    =  90250×100\% \; \text{of water} \; \; = \; \frac{90}{250} \times 100
  =36%\; =36\%
