A pulley system has three pulleys. A load of 120 N120\ \mathrm{N} is overcome by applying an effort of 50N. Calculate the Mechanical Advantage and Efficiency of this system.
Solution:  
Given : E=50 N, L=120 N, V⋅R=3E=50\ \mathrm{N},\ L=120\ \mathrm{N},\ V\cdot R=3
(No. of pulleys in system).
   M.A.   =     Load      Effort   =  12050=2.4   Ans.   \;\text{ M.A. }\;=\;\frac{\;\text{ Load }\;}{\;\text{ Effort }\;}=\;\frac{120}{50}=2.4\;\text{ Ans. }\;
   Efficiency     =     Mechanical Advantage      Velocity Ratio   \;\text{ Efficiency }\;\;=\;\frac{\;\text{ Mechanical Advantage }\;}{\;\text{ Velocity Ratio }\;} ×100 %\times 100\ \%
  =  2.43×100=2403\;=\;\frac{2.4}{3}\times 100=\frac{240}{3}
  =80 %.\;=80\ \%.
