Question : 32 of 78
Marks: +1, -0
A solid metal weighing 150 g150\ \text{g} melts at its melting point of 800∘ C800^{\circ}\ \text{C} by providing heat at the rate of 100 W100\ \text{W}. The time taken for it to completely melt at the same temperature is 4 min. What is the specific latent heat of fusion of the metal?
Solution:
Given : m=150 g, P=100 Wm=150\ \text{g},\ P=100\ \text{W} , time =4 min=4\ \text{min} =4×60=240 s=4 \times 60=240\ \text{s}
Heat energy required to melt the metal = Electrical Energy supplied.
