Question : 13 of 23
Marks: +1, -0
Calculate the total number of electrons present in 1.4 g of dinitrogen gas.
Solution:
Number of moles of dinitrogen = 1428\frac{14}{28} = 0.05
Number of molecules in 1.4 g of dinitrogen = 0.05 × 6.022 × 102310^{23} molecules = 0.3011 × 102310^{23} molecules = 3.011 × 102210^{22} molecules
Since 1 molecule of dinitrogen has 14 electrons.
∴ 3.011 × 102210^{22} molecules of dinitrogen have = 14 × 3.011 × 102210^{22} electrons
= 4.2154 × 102310^{23} electrons
