Question : 60 of 67
Marks: +1, -0
The velocity associated with a proton moving in a potential difference of 1000 V is 4.37 × 105ms110^5\,\mathrm{m}\,\mathrm{s}^{-1}. If the hockey ball of mass 0.1 kg is moving with this velocity, calculate the wavelength associated with this velocity.
Solution:
We know that λ = hmv\frac{h}{mv}
where h = 6.626 × 1034Js10^{-34}\,\mathrm{J}\,\mathrm{s}, m = 0.1 kg, v = 4.37 × 105ms110^5\,\mathrm{m}\,\mathrm{s}^{-1}
∴ λ = 6.626×10340.1×4.37×105\frac{6.626 \times 10^{-34}}{0.1 \times 4.37 \times 10^5} = 15.16 × 1039m10^{-39}\,\mathrm{m} = 1.516 × 1038m10^{-38}\,\mathrm{m}
