Solution:  
Let f (x) = 4x−24\sqrt{x}-2 ⇒ f (x) = 4x1/2−24x^{1/2}-2 ... (i)
Differentiating (i) with respect to x, we get
ddx\frac{d}{dx} (f (x)) = 12×4x1/2−1\frac{1}{2} \times 4x^{1/2-1} - 0
= 12×4x−1/2\frac{1}{2} \times 4x^{-1/2}
= 2x−1/22x^{-1/2}
= 2x1/2\frac{2}{x^{1/2}}
