Question : 9 of 33
Marks: +1, -0
The photograph of a house occupies an area of 1.75 cm2^{2} on a 35 mm slide. The slide is projected on to a screen, and the area of the house on the screen is 1.55 m2^{2}. What is the linear magnification of the projector-screen arrangement.
Solution:
Here, size of an object = area of object
=1.75 cm2=1.75×104 m2=1.75\ \mathrm{cm}^{2}=1.75\times10^{-4}\ \mathrm{m}^{2}
Size of the image == area of the image
=1.55 m2=1.55\ \mathrm{m}^{2}
 \therefore\ \quad Areal magnification =size of imagesize of the object=\frac{\text{size of image}}{\text{size of the object}}
=1.55 m21.75×104 m2=8857.1=\frac{1.55\ \mathrm{m}^{2}}{1.75\times10^{-4}\ \mathrm{m}^{2}}=8857.1
\therefore Linear magnification =8857=94.1=\sqrt{8857}=94.1
