What is the shortest wavelength present in the Paschen series of spectral lines?
Solution:  
For shortest wavelength of Paschen series, n1n_1 = 3, n2n_2 = ∞
∴ 1λS\frac{1}{\lambda_S} = R [132−1∞]\left[ \frac{1}{3^2} - \frac{1}{\infty} \right] = R9\frac{R}{9} or λs\lambda_s = 9R\frac{9}{R} = 91.097×107\frac{9}{1.097 \times 10^7}
= 8.2041 × 10−710^{-7} m = 8204.1 Å.
