Question : 23 of 34
Marks: +1, -0
An infinite line charge produces a field of 9 × 10410^4 N C1C^{-1} at a distance of 2 cm. Calculate the linear charge density.
Solution:
E = 9 × 10410^4 N C1C^{-1} , r = 2 cm = 2 × 10210^{-2} m
As E = λ2πε0r\frac{\lambda}{2\pi\varepsilon_0 r} , So , λ = 2πε02\pi\varepsilon_0 . E = 12×9×109\frac{1}{2 \times 9 \times 10^9} × 9 × 10410^4 × 2 × 10210^{-2}
or λ = 1 × 10710^{-7} C m1m^{-1} = 0.1 µ C m1m^{-1}
