Question : 12 of 28
Marks: +1, -0
In question 11, obtain the frequency of revolution of the electron in its circular orbit. Does the answer depend on the speed of the electron? Explain.
Solution:
Time period can be calculated.
T = 2Ï€rv\frac{2\pi r}{v} = 2Ï€mBq\frac{2\pi m}{Bq}
So, frequency
f = 1T\frac{1}{T} = Bq2πm\frac{Bq}{2\pi m} or f = 6.5×10−4×1.6×10−192π×9.1×10−31\frac{6.5 \times 10^{-4} \times 1.6 \times 10^{-19}}{2\pi \times 9.1 \times 10^{-31}}
f = 18.2 × 10610^{6} Hz = 18.2 MHz
The frequency of revolution of electron is independent of speed of electron.
