Question : 28 of 32
Marks: +1, -0
If a current of 0.5 ampere flows through a metallic wire for 2 hours, then how many electrons would flow though the wire?
Solution:
Q=I×tQ=I\times t
=0.5×2×60×60=0.5\times 2\times 60\times 60
=3600 C=3600\,\mathrm{C}
Charge on 1 electron is 1.602×10−19 C1.602\times 10^{-19}\,\mathrm{C}
3600 C\mathrm{C} is charge on 11.602×10−19×3600\frac{1}{1.602\times 10^{-19}}\times 3600
=36001.602×1019=\frac{3600}{1.602}\times 10^{19}
=2.25×1022=2.25\times 10^{22} electrons
