Solution:  
The electronic configuration of Ce3+^{3+} is 4f 1^{1}
μ=n(n+2)\mu=\sqrt{n(n+2)}
=1(1+2)=\sqrt{1(1+2)}
=3=\sqrt{3}
=1.732 BM=1.732 \text{ BM}
