The childern of slums like Seemapuri are the offsprings of homeless ragpickers. As they live in poverty and hunger, they start picking rags at an early age. They grow up in shifting shacks, without drainage or running water. They live in mud houses with roofs of tin and tarpaulin. For elders, garbage is a means of survival but for children, it has surprises. Finding a coin or a currency note by chance, thrills them. This profession gives them a roof over their heads, even if it leaks.
