Modernisation is one of the major long-term objective of planning. It shows dichotomy with employment generation. Modernisation refers to the use of latest technology as a method of production. Modernisation in informal language refers to an increased number of rich and a varied life, which is possible with growth of GDP. To increase the production of goods and services, the producers have to adopt new technology and machines, e.g., a farmer in UP introducing new variety of seeds, a farmer adopting hitech machines or new technology is called the modernisation.
