Turmeric is a natural indicator which help us to identify whether a given solution is an acid, base or a neutral compound. The turmeric paper gives reddish brown colour if the pH ranges between 7.5 to 9.5. So, the solution is basic in nature. Therefore, the Universal pH indicator will show colour Blue or slightly dark blue colour. Violet will not be there because violet colour is shown for highly alkaline bases.
