Five major problems faced by the road transport in India are as follows :
(i) Road network is inadequate in India.
(ii) About half of the roads are unmetalled and this limits their usage during the rainy season.
(iii) The roadways are highly congested in cities.
(iv) Most of the bridges are old and narrow.
(v) Disrespect of the traffic rules is a major problem. Citizen have a casual attitude towards traffic rules, which leads to accidents causing traffic jams.
