Question : 15 of 20
Marks: +1, -0
If 2 tan A = 3, then value of sec A equals
Solution:
Given:
2 tan A = 3
tan A =   32\;\frac{3}{2}
Using the identity:
sec2A=1+tan2A\sec^2\, A = 1 + \tan^2\, A
sec2A=1+(  32)2\sec^2\, A = 1 + \left(\;\frac{3}{2}\right)^2
sec2A=1+  94\sec^2\, A = 1 + \;\frac{9}{4}
secA=  4+94=  134\sec\, A = \;\frac{4+9}{4} = \;\frac{13}{4}
secA=  134=  132\sec\, A = \;\frac{\sqrt{13}}{\sqrt{4}} = \;\frac{\sqrt{13}}{2}
