You have a choice of the three metals A,B and C , of specific heat capacities 900jkg−1 ‌∘C−1,380Jkg−1‌∘C−1 and 460Jkg−1‌∘C−1 respectively to make a calorimeter. Which material will youselect ? Justify your answer.

Solution:

Metal 'B'. Because metal B having lowest specific heat capacity is selected to make a calorimeter. Since with metal B the heat capacity of calorimeter will be low and so the amount of heat energy taken by the calorimeter from its contents to acquire the temperature of its contents will be negligible.
