Question : 23 of 67
Marks: +1, -0
When a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a mechanical force. What should be the angle between the magnetic field and the length of the conductor so that the force experienced is :
(i) Zero
(ii) Maximum?
Solution:
We know, F=BIlsinθ,F = BI l \sin \theta,
where θ\theta is the angle between the magnetic field and the length of the conductor, thus
(i) For the force (F) to be zero, angle θ=0\theta = 0^{\circ} (sin0=0)(\because \sin 0^{\circ}=0)
(ii) For the force (F)(F) to be maximum, angle θ=90(sin90=1)\theta = 90^{\circ} (\because \sin 90^{\circ}=1)
