Question : 22 of 67
Marks: +1, -0
Two metallic blocks PP and QQ having masses in ratio 2:12: 1 are supplied with same amount of heat. If their temperature rise by same degree, compare their specific heat capacities.
Solution:
Given :
   Mass of block P(mp) Mass of block Q(mQ)  =  21\; \frac{ \text{ Mass of block } P (m_p) }{ \text{ Mass of block } Q (m_Q) } \; = \; \frac{2}{1}
and ΔTp  =ΔTQ\Delta T_p \;=\Delta T_Q
  CpCQ  =?\; \frac{C_p}{C_Q} \; =?
Heat supplied to block P=P= Heat supplied to block QQ
∴    mp⋅Cp⋅ΔTp  =mQ⋅CQΔTQ    \therefore \;\; m_p \cdot C_p \cdot \Delta T_p \; = m_Q \cdot C_Q \Delta T_Q \;\; (∵Q=mcΔT)( \because Q = m c \Delta T )
⇒      CpCQ  =  mQmp×  ΔTQΔTp    \Rightarrow \;\; \; \frac{C_p}{C_Q} \; = \; \frac{m_Q}{m_p} \times \; \frac{\Delta T_Q}{\Delta T_p} \;\; (∵ΔTQ=ΔTP)( \because \Delta T_Q = \Delta T_P )
  =  12×  11=1:2.       Ans.   \; = \; \frac{1}{2} \times \; \frac{1}{1} = 1: 2 . \;\; \; \text{ Ans. } \;
