People who want to enter skilled trades such as welder, plumber, electrician, machinist, etc. are required to undergo apprenticeship training. In an apprenticeship programme, classroom training is given first and then the trainees try out the job under the guidance of a master worker. Classroom training focuses on theory and auxiliary skills. In job try-out the trainees gradually learn the skilled craft. An apprenticeship programme may run from 2 to 5 years.
