Question : 13
Total: 23
Calculate the total number of electrons present in 1.4 g of dinitrogen gas.
Solution:
Number of moles of dinitrogen =
= 0.05
Number of molecules in 1.4 g of dinitrogen = 0.05 × 6.022 ×10 23 molecules = 0.3011 × 10 23 molecules = 3.011 × 10 22 molecules
Since 1 molecule of dinitrogen has 14 electrons.
∴ 3.011 ×10 22 molecules of dinitrogen have = 14 × 3.011 × 10 22 electrons
= 4.2154 ×10 23 electrons
Number of molecules in 1.4 g of dinitrogen = 0.05 × 6.022 ×
Since 1 molecule of dinitrogen has 14 electrons.
∴ 3.011 ×
= 4.2154 ×
