Question : 39 of 52
Marks: +1, -0
x22x+32x^2 - 2x + \frac{3}{2} = 0
Solution:
We have, x22x+32x^2 - 2x + \frac{3}{2} = 0
Comparing the given equation with the general form ax2ax^2 + bx + c = 0,
we get a = 1 b = − 2 , c = 32\frac{3}{2}
∴ x = b±b24ac2a\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a} = 2±(2)24×1×322×1\frac{2 \pm \sqrt{(-2)^2 - 4 \times 1 \times \frac{3}{2}}}{2 \times 1}
= 2±462\frac{2 \pm \sqrt{4 - 6}}{2} = 2±22\frac{2 \pm \sqrt{-2}}{2} = 2±22\frac{2 \pm \sqrt{2}}{2} = 1 ± 22i\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2} i
