A plane electromagnetic wave travels in vacuum along z-direction. What can you say about the directions of its electric and magnetic field vectors? If the frequency of the wave is 30 MHz, what is its wavelength?
Solution:  
electromagnetic wave, the electric field vector E⃗\vec{E} and magnetic field vector B⃗\vec{B} show their variations perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave as well as perpendicular to each other. As the electromagnetic wave is travelling along z-direction, hence E⃗\vec{E} and B⃗\vec{B} show their variation in x-y plane.
Wavelength, λ = cv\frac{c}{v} = 3×108m/s30×106s−1\frac{3\times10^{8}\text{m/s}}{30\times10^{6}\text{s}^{-1}} = 10 m
