Question : 5 of 15
Marks: +1, -0
A radio can tune in to any station in the 7.5 MHz to 12 MHz ban. What is the corresponding wavelength band?
Solution:
Maximum wavelength in the band is for lowest frequency
c = vminλmaxv_{min}\lambda_{max}
λmax\lambda_{max} = cvmin\frac{c}{v_{min}} = 3×1087.5×106\frac{3 \times 10^{8}}{7.5 \times 10^{6}} = 40 m
Minimum wavelength in the band is for highest frequency
c = vmaxλminv_{max}\lambda_{min}
λmin\lambda_{min} = cvmax\frac{c}{v_{max}} = 3×10812×106\frac{3 \times 10^{8}}{12 \times 10^{6}} = 25 m
So, the wavelength band for tuning is between 25 m to 40 m.
