Question : 28 of 53
Marks: +1, -0
Calculate the mass percentage of aspirin (C9H8O4)\mathrm{(C_9H_8O_4)} in acetonitrile (CH3CN)\mathrm{(CH_3CN)} when 6.5 of C9H8O4\mathrm{C_9H_8O_4} is dissolved in 450 g of CH3CN\mathrm{CH_3CN}.
Solution:
Given, Mass of aspirin = 6.5 g\mathrm{g} , Mass of acetonitrile = 450 g\mathrm{g}
extMasspercentofaspirinext{Mass percent of aspirin} =Mass of aspirinMass of aspirin+Mass of acetonitrile×100=\frac{\text{Mass of aspirin}}{\text{Mass of aspirin}+\text{Mass of acetonitrile}}\times 100
=6.56.5+450×100=1.424%=\frac{6.5}{6.5+450}\times 100=1.424\%
