Question : 27
Total: 53
If the solubility product of CuS is 6 × 10 16, calculate the maximum molarity of CuS in aqueous solution.
Solution:
Maximum molarity of CuS in aqueous solution = Solubility of CuSin molL1
If S is the solubility of CuS in molL1 , then
CuSCu2++S2, Ksp= [ Cu2+ ] [ S2] =S×S=S2
S2=6×1016 or S=6×1016 =2.45×108 mol L1
