Given: 8 men or 12 women can do a piece of work in 25 days Calculation: According to the question, 8 men take 25 days ⇒ 1 man will take 8 × 25 = 200 days. 12 women take 25 days ⇒ 1 woman will take 12 × 25 = 300 days. ⇒ 1 man’s one day’s work $= \left( \frac{1}{200} \right)$ ⇒ 6 men’s one day’s work $= \left( \frac{6}{200} \right)$ Similarly, 1 woman’s one day’s work $= \left( \frac{1}{300} \right)$ ⇒ 11 women’s one day’s work $= \left( \frac{11}{300} \right)$ Now, 11 women’s and 6 men’s one day’s work $= \left( \frac{11}{300} \right) + \left( \frac{6}{200} \right)$ $\Rightarrow \frac{1}{15}$ ∴ They will take 15 days to complete the work.
