GIVEN: Ratio of total male employees to female employees is 9 : 7. Ratio of the total salary of all male employees to that of all female employees is 27 : 35. CONCEPT: Basic Ratio concept. FORMULA: Average = Sum of salary/Number of employees CALCULATION: Let male and female employees in the company be ‘9x’ and ‘7x’ respectively. Let the total salary of male and female employees of the company be ‘27y’ and ‘35y’ respectively. ⇒ Average salary of male employees $= \left(\frac{27y}{9x}\right) = \left(\frac{3y}{x}\right)$ ⇒ Average salary of female employees $= \left(\frac{35y}{7x}\right) = \left(\frac{5y}{x}\right)$ ∴ Required ratio $= \left(\frac{3y}{x}\right) : \left(\frac{5y}{x}\right) = 3 : 5$
