GIVEN:

(i) Present age of Parth = 150% Priyanka’s present age (ii) 5 year hence age of Priyanka is 75% of age of Parth. CALCULATIONS:

Let, the age of Parth be A and Present age of Priyanka be B. According to the question, ⇒ A = 150% of B ⇒ A = ($\frac{150}{100}$) × B ⇒ 100 × A = 150 × B ⇒ A/B = $\frac{150}{100}$ = $\frac{3}{2}$ ⇒ Current age ratio = 3 : 2 ----(i) 5 years later Priyanka’s age will be 75% of Parth’s age ⇒ B = 75% of A ⇒ 100 × B = 75 × A ⇒ $\frac{A}{B}$ = $\frac{100}{75}$ = $\frac{4}{3}$ = 4 : 3 Let the current age of Parth be 3x and Priyanka’s age be 2x 5 years hence, there ages will be 3x + 5, and 2x + 5. ⇒ $\frac{(3x + 5)}{(2x + 5)}$ = $\frac{4}{3}$ ⇒ 3(3x + 5) = 4(2x + 5) ⇒ 9x + 15 = 8x + 20 ⇒ 9x – 8x = 20 – 15 = 5 ⇒ x = 5 ⇒ Present age of Parth = 3x = 15 ⇒Present age of Priyanka = 2x = 10 Age of Parth 5 years ago = 15 – 5 = 10 years Age of Priyanka 5 years ago = 10–5 = 5 years ⇒ Addition of Parth and Priyanka’s age 5 years ago = 10 + 5 = 15 years ∴ The sum of Parth and Priyanka’s age before 5 years was 15 years.
