Calculation:

Votes received by candidate C = (

Number of males who voted for C = 7x

Number of females who voted for C = 2x

So, 7x + 2x = 18,000

⇒ 9x = 18,000

⇒ x = 2,000

Number of females who voted for C = 2 × 2000

⇒ 4000

∴ Number of females who voted for C is 4000
