Propene (C3H6) undergoes acidic hydrolysis to give A which is 2° alcohol. This alcohol undergoes iodoform reaction in presence of KIO and dil. KOH to give iodoform alongwith potassium salt of carboxylic acid. This reaction is known as iodoform test.
