Tana Bhagat movement started in April 1914 under the leadership of Jatra Bhagat. This movement is considered to be an extension of the Birsa Munda movement. It was a kind of cultural revolution which emphasized worship of one God, vegetarianism, teetotalism, stopping of tribal dance and return of Jhum cultivation.
