Conservation of organisms in its natural habitat is called in-situ conservation. Biosphere reserves, national parks and sanctuaries are examples of in-situ conservation. Ex-situ conservation is a type of conservation in which the threatened animals and plants are taken out from their natural habitat and placed in special settings where they can be protected and given special care. In a botanical garden, the plants grown are not grown in its natural habitat. Thus, it is an example of ex-situ conservation.
