(C) Mahoba is known for Alhaand Udal, two brothers who sacrificed their lives for the honour of their land. Alha and Udal were children of the Dasraj, a successful commander of the Chandel king Parmal. He belonged to the community of Banaphar Rajputs. Udal was legendary a Rajput general in the army of Chandel King Parimard DevBurman of Mahoba in 12th−13thcentury AD. He was the younger brother of Alha. Alha is one of the heroes of the Alha-Khand poem, popularly recited in the Bundelkhand region of India.
