(C) In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as‘National Voters’ Day’. It started from January 25, 2011 to mark the Commission’s foundation day. Observing that new voters,who have attained the age of 18 years, were showing less interest in getting enrolled in the electoral rolls, the then Information and Broad casting Minister, Ambika Soni said the level of their enrollment was a slow as 20 to 25 per cent in certain cases.
