(C) The Government of India Act, 1919 introduced bicameral legislature with two houses – Legislative Assembly(forerunner of the Lok Sabha)and the Council of State(forerunner of the Rajya Sabha). The Government of India Act, 1919 was passed by the British Parliament to further expand the participation of Indians in the Government of India. In the Government of India Act, 1919 the spheres of the central and provincial governments were demarcated by a division of subjects into ‘central’ and‘provincial’.
