(A) Dhangdev was the ruler of Chandela dynasty. The Chandel as of Jejakabhukti were a royal dynasty in Central India. They ruled much of the Bundelkhand region (then called Jejakabhukti) between the 9th and the 13th centuries. The Chandelas initially ruled asfeudatories of the Gurjara-Pratiharas of Kannauj. The10th-century Chandela ruler Yashovarman became independent, although he continued to acknowledge the Pratihara suzerainty. By the time of his successor Dhangadev, the Chandelas had become a sovereign power.Their power rose and declined as they fought battles with the neighbouring dynasties, especially the Paramaras of Malwa and the Kalachuris of Tripuri.
