(c) Amoebiasis or amoebic dysentery is caused by a parasite Entamoeba histolytica present in the upper part of large intestine of human. It is caused due to ingesting contaminated food or water with cyst (trophozoite) of Entamoeba. It feeds on R.B.C of intestinal blood capillaries and damages intestinal mucosa secreting an enzyme - histolysin.
