He is considered amaster of traditional MevleviSufi music and is one of thebest-known players of theTurkish ney flute.The Director-General of UNESCO, IrinaBokova, appointed him asUNESCO Artist for Peace at theopening ceremony of the 40thsession of the World HeritageCommittee in Istanbul on 10July 2016.
