In humans, adipose tissue is located:beneath the skin, around internal organs, in bone marrow, intermuscular and in the breast tissue. In the integumentary system, it accumulates in the deepest level, the subcutaneous layer and provides insulation from heat and cold. Around organs, it provides protective padding. It also functions as a reserve of nutrients.
